5 Indian Cos Among World's Best Brands
Bangalore: Indian business sector is growing at a very rapid speed and the economy has been tagged as a promising one by many leaders. Tata has climbed up the ladder in the list of top-50 global brands and is now ranked 39th amongst the valuable global brands, with a valuation of $18.16 billion. Here are five Indian companies which successfully made their names among world's best brands as ranked by Brand Finance.
1. Tata
Ranking in 2013: 39
Ranking in 2012: 45
Two years back the company ranked 45th in the list, and in 2013 Tata climbed the ladder successfully and reached the 39th rank. The current value in 2013 is $18.16 billion which was $16.34 billion in 2012. Tata Group is an Indian multinational company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It encompasses seven business sectors which are communications and information technology, engineering, materials, services, energy, consumer products and chemicals. The present chairman of the Tata group is Cyrus Pallonji Mistry, who took over from Ratan Tata in 2012.
2. Reliance Industries

Ranking in 2012: 237
Reliance Industries ranked 171 in the list. In 2012 the company was ranked 237 among world's best brands. In 2013 the company valued $6.14 billion which was $4.36 billion in 2012. The company operates in three segments: petrochemicals, refining and oil & gas and is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. RIL is one of the largest publicly traded companies in India by market capitalization and is the second largest company in India by revenue after Indian Oil Corporation.
3. State Bank of India

Ranking in 2012: 219
State Bank of India ranked 176 in the list of world's best brands. In 2012 the bank was ranked 219 among world's best brands. In 2013 the bank valuation is $5.99 billion which was $4.68 billion in 2012. State Bank of India is a multinational banking and financial services company based in India. SBI provides a series of banking products through its network of branches in India and abroad, as well as products designed for non-resident Indians. SBI has 14 regional centers and 57 Zonal Offices that are located at important cities throughout the country.

Ranking in 2012: 293
IndianOil and its subsidiaries account for a 49% share in the petroleum products market, 31 percent share in refining capacity and 67% downstream sector pipelines capacity in India and was also listed as the world's 83rd largest public corporation by Fortune Global 500 list. Indian Oil ranks 312 in the list of world's best brands in 2013 while in 2012 it was ranked 293. Brand value of Indian Oil in 2013 is $3.75 billion while in 2012 the company valued $3.66 billion.
5. Airtel

Bharti Airtel, also popularly known as Airtel, ranked 313th in the list of world's best brands. In 2012 the company was ranked 187 among world's best brands. In 2013 the company valuation is $3.74 billion which was $5.22 billion in 2012. It operates in 20 countries across South Asia, Africa and the Channel Islands. Airtel is the largest provider of mobile telephony and second largest provider of fixed telephony in India, and is also a provider of broadband and subscription television services. It offers its telecom services under the airtel brand, and is headed by Sunil Bharti Mittal.
