HAMILTON: One is not sure what was on the team menu for dinner, but if you sawMahendra Singh Dhoni on Tuesday evening you'd have thought it was humble pie.

Indeed, the skipper looked totally distraught after the drubbing in the fourth one-dayer against New Zealand; looking ahead, he also believes that the 2015 World Cup could be a disaster if the fast bowlers don't get their act together.

"They need to push themselves because with the rule changes it is going to be quite tough," he said, shortly after the series' loss. "It wasn't about that here though; it was just bad bowling. Most of it has been short and wide and it has given them room to score freely. We have to keep it tight, but we have a pool of bowlers when it comes to talent. We have bowlers who can do well. But they have to start using their brains more and improvise. What needs to be done is bowl in one area. That is where we lack when it comes to fast bowling," he explained.

Dhoni conceded that the team has to find the men for the job quickly. "We know the spinners who will carry on till the World Cup provided there are no injuries. We are still not sure who our fast bowling choices are. Back home, we talk about pace and bounce and we get bowlers who can bowl quick. But they end up giving more runs," he pointed out.

Dhoni defended his decision to push the in form Virat Kohli up the order to open the innings too. "We had a chat with him and he was super confident. He said he wanted to open. It fitted well for us, with Jinks coming in at No. 3 and Rayudu at 4. So the strength of the side remained the same."

He refused to accept that Rahane would have been a better choice. "Initially, he came in as an opener. But we had a chat with the selectors, a few months ago, and he was termed a middle-order batsman. We have tried him and he was good in the middle-order. So we want to stick to that. T20 is a different scenario," he said
