Microsoft Launches Website That Helps Students Buy Laptop
Bangalore: The graduation season is in full swing in U.S. Among the colleges that are vying to capture the attention of high school grads, the odd out, Microsoft, is trying to sell its computing machines by launching a website that lets family and friends to come together and chip in to help their grads buy a windows laptop, reports Los Angeles Times.
Last year too Microsoft came up with a way to boost its PC sells by getting a free Xbox 360 game console to the new grads with the purchase of a Windows PC.
The website too goes with the name “Chip In,” and idea behind it, as Microsoft’s Kristina Libby, the head of consumer communications for Windows, says, was to make it easier for students to get laptops for college by helping them crowd-source the necessary money from their loved ones. “It’s a really easy way for friends and family to help give students a gift that they actually want and actually need,” Libby said.
