ONLINE CUSTOMERS MAY BE CHEATING ON U:)

Five Signs Your Online Customers May Be Cheating on You

stopping-a-guy-from-cheating
These days, consumers have more choices, more incentives and more reasons to comparison shop for the best deals out there. But Marketers can use online behavior and web analytics to reveal patterns and warning signs indicative of the type of customer retention issues that lead to “online cheating.” The question is, are they?
If caught early enough, these issues can be easily connected. To do so, marketers must identify which types of data patterns to pay attention to and use that data to inform their next steps.
1. Homepage Bounce Rates of 55% or More
If more than 55% of visitors are turning around as soon as they get to your site, it’s a major red flag that something is terribly wrong. It’s likely that visitors aren’t finding what they’re looking for. (BTW: you should know that the average industry home page bounce rate is around 50%, and that a well-performing homepage has a bounce rate of between 0% and 25%.)
So what gives when this issue arises? It’s usually due to issues with layout, design, navigation, site elements, functionality, content, or messaging. By A/B and multivariate testing these homepage elements in various combinations, marketers can discern which elements are contributing to a higher conversion rate, and which are contributing to the high bounce rates.
2. High Average Shopping Cart Abandonment Rates
Many online shoppers initiate a purchase, only to leave the items behind in their cart. The Baymard Institute found that the average cart abandonment rate is about 65%. Luckily, there are a number of options you can test to bring this number down. These include estimating shipping costs at an earlier point in the buying process, allowing guest checkouts, highlighting in-stock versus out-of-stock status, providing auto-fill forms based on cookie tags for repeat visitors, and using shipping discounts or specials.
3. Low Search Engagement
The importance of search on visitor engagement and purchases is often overlooked. By encouraging consumers to explore the site and streamlining the shopping process, the chances you’ll turn more visitors into customers, increases. Every single component of the search feature—placement, layout, default search box text and even the color, size and design of the graphic elements—affects engagement with this important tool. Multivariate testing can help marketers discover which combinations work best for their target audience
4. Unsatisfactory Average Order Values
What about those customers that just aren’t buying as much as they could be? Chances are they have a very specific product in mind, and aren’t being persuaded to add more items to their cart.
This is where personalization can really help. By inserting and/or customizing information that’s relevant to a specific user based on implicit behaviors (items purchased, pages viewed) as well as explicit details (location, age, gender) provided by that particular user, you’ll be able to customize their recommended items. Product recommendations and behavioral targeting are two common ways to combat this problem.
5. One-Time Buyers
66% of Amazon.com’s sales are attributed to repeat buyers. Remarkably, only 7% of the entire ecommerce industry can say the same. But it’s going to be tough to match this success without employing automated personalization with behavioral targeting solutions.
Using data such as previous purchases, searches, page views, geography, demographics, type of button click, transactions, etc., is crucial to keeping customers loyal. Behavioral targeting tailors content and offers to individuals based on both their past behaviors and their unique “buyer personas”.
Placing customers at the heart of online content decisions and giving them unique, personalized experiences is an important part of faithful consumer relationships.

Studies show that eating a proper breakfast is one of the most positive things you can do if you are

APPLE ALSO HACKED

Apple says Macs at its offices were hacked

Apple says a small number of Mac computers at its offices were infected by malicious software, in anattack similar to the one Facebook acknowledged last week.

In both cases, computers were infected through software downloaded from a site for software developers. The attacks took advantage of flaws in the Java plug-in for Web browsers.

Neither company said that there was any evidence that the attackers gleaned any data from their attacks.

The Java vulnerability is well known, and Apple has taken measures to disable the plug-in on all Macs. It says it would release an update malware removal tool to remove infections.

In January, the US Department of Homeland Security recommended disabling Java in Web browsers to avoid hacking attacks.

Budget 2013 Easier norms for equity investments, removal of cap for FIIs expected NEW DELHI: Finance Minister P Chidambaram may announce extensive changes in the regulatory regime governing capital markets in the upcoming budget, including scrapping the cap on the amount foreign institutional investors can invest in rupee corporate debt and putting in place a simpler regime for foreign investors in stocks and bonds. Further, the minister may also unveil a simpler version of the Rajiv Gandhi Equity Savings Scheme, which is meant for new investors, relax stringent know your customer (KYC) norms for individuals, and come up with tax sops for certain mutual fund products. "The budget will have a strong package for the capital markets," said a finance ministry official privy to the discussions. India needs to attract foreign capital to bridge its current account deficit that is projected to worsen to 4.4% of GDP due to rising import of gold and crude oil. In the current year, foreign institutional investors have invested $8.7 billion in buying up Indian stocks and debt, over and above the $31 billion they brought in last year. But stock market sentiment has soured in the past few weeks, as the impetus generated by reform measures announced since September 2012 begin to fade.

Unhappy Childhood May Raise Heart Disease Risk In Later Life.

London: Emotional behaviour in childhood may be linked with heart disease in middle age, especially in women, a new research has claimed.
The study found that being prone to distress at the age of seven was associated with a significantly higher risk of cardiovascular disease in later life.

Health news.jpg
Conversely children who were better at paying attention and staying focused had reduced heart risk when older, BBC News reported.
US researchers looked at 377 adults who had taken part in the research as children. At seven they had undergone several tests to look at emotional behaviour.
They compared the results from this with a commonly used risk score for cardiovascular disease of participants now in their early 40s.
After controlling for other factors which might influence heart disease risk, they found that high levels of distress at age seven were associated with a 31 per cent increased risk of cardiovascular disease in middle-aged women.
For men with high levels of distress in childhood – which included being easily frustrated and quick to anger – the increased risk of cardiovascular disease was 17 per cent.
For 40-year-olds who had been prone to distress as a child, the chances of having a heart attack or stroke in the next 10 years increased from 3.2 per cent to 4.2 per cent for women and 7.3 to 8.5 per cent for men.
The researchers also looked at positive emotional factors such as having a good attention span and found this was linked with better cardiovascular health, although to a lesser degree.

Twitter: Hackers target 250,000 users The BBC's technology correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones is one of those affected Continue reading the main story A quarter of a million Twitter users have had their accounts compromised in the latest of a string of high-profile internet security breaches. Twitter's information security director Bob Lord said about 250,000 users' passwords had been stolen, as well as usernames, emails and other data. Affected users have had passwords invalidated and have been sent emails informing them. Mr Lord said the attack "was not the work of amateurs". He said it appeared similar to recent attacks on the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. The US newspapers reported that their computer systems had been breached by China-based hackers. 'Not isolated' Twitter has 200 million active users. Continue reading the main story “ Start Quote There is still little information about the nature of the attack or why just one small section of users is in danger” . "This attack was not the work of amateurs, and we do not believe it was an isolated incident," he wrote. Mr Lord did not say who had carried out the attack, but added: "The attackers were extremely sophisticated, and we believe other companies and organisations have also been recently similarly attacked." "For that reason we felt that it was important to publicise this attack while we still gather information, and we are helping government and federal law enforcement in their effort to find and prosecute these attackers to make the internet safer for all users." Internet security specialist Graham Cluley warned Twitter's announcement that emails would be sent to users may prompt a spate of spam emails "phishing" for sensitive information. He says people should be cautious about opening emails which appear to be from Twitter. "You have to be careful if you get hold of one of these emails because, of course, it could equally be a phishing attack - it could be someone pretending to be Twitter. "So, log into the Twitter site as normal and try and log in to your account and, if there's a problem, that's when you actually have to try and reset your password." Another expert in online security, Professor Alan Woodward from the University of Surrey, warned users to be wary of messages sent them by the hackers via Twitter itself. "They can then send what's called direct messages," he said. "They can put malicious links in those." "It really looks like it's coming from someone you know and you might respond to it, you'd go to the site and all of a sudden you find that actually you've got some malware on your machine which is then stealing your bank details or whatever."

TECHNOLOGY

Facebook was targeted by 'sophisticated' hackers Facebook has one billion active users worldwide Facebook has revealed it was the target of a "sophisticated attack" by hackers last month, but found no evidence any user data had been compromised. The US-based social network said that the attack occurred when employees visited a mobile developer website "that was compromised". Facebook said in a blog post that it was not the only company to have been attacked in this way. More than one billion people use Facebook worldwide. "Last month, Facebook security discovered that our systems had been targeted in a sophisticated attack," the California-based company said. "The attack occurred when a handful of employees visited a mobile developer website that was compromised." Malware was downloaded on to its employees' laptops, the firm said, adding: "As soon as we discovered the presence of the malware, we remediated all infected machines, informed law enforcement, and began a significant investigation that continues to this day." "We have no evidence that Facebook user data was compromised in this attack," Facebook said in its blog post. The firm went on to say that it was "not alone in this attack". "It is clear that others were attacked and infiltrated recently as well. As one of the first companies to discover this malware, we immediately took steps to start sharing details about the infiltration with the other companies and entities that were affected," Facebook said. This is the latest attack by apparently sophisticated hackers targeting high-profile sites. Twitter said earlier this month that the theft of 250,000 users' passwords, as well as usernames, emails and other data, was "not the work of amateurs". The New York Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal have all accused China of "persistently" hacking into their security systems - accusations China denies.

RUPEES Vs DOLLERS

Rupee settles at 54.22 Vs dollar The Indian rupee tumbled by another 72 paise to settle the week at one-month low of 54.22 against the Greenback following weakness in the local equities amid sustained dollar demand from importers and some banks, mainly oil refiners. Market extends losses for 3rd week, ends below 19,500 The BSE benchmark Sensex extended losses for the third consecutive week by slipping 27 points to end at 19,468.15 due to persistent selling pressure from operators in view of fall in industrial output and rise in retail inflation. Dismal corporate earnings by some bluechip companies also dented the market sentiment. Shares of realty, capital goods, power, metal and consumer durable declined sharply on heavy selling pressure. Growth in industrial output contracted by 0.6 percent in December mainly due to muted activities in manufacturing and mining sectors. Retail inflation remained in double digits at 10.79 percent in January, driven by higher prices of vegetables, edible oil, cereals and protein-based items. However, WPI inflation dropped to a three-year low of 6.62 percent in January but the data failed to spur rate cut hopes. The BSE benchmark Sensex resumed higher at 19,517.59 and moved in a range of 19,723.01 and 19,381.82 before ending at 19,468.15, a loss of 26.62 points, or 0.14 percent. The 30-issue index has lost 635.38 points, or 3.16 percent, in the last three weeks. The NSE 50-share Nifty also declined by 16.10 points, or 0.27 percent, to settle at 2013's lowest closing level of 5,887.40. The benchmark has lost 187.25 points, or 3.08 percent, in the last three weeks. Brokers said the broader market continued to remain in the negative territory with second-line stocks attracting profit-booking by retail investors ahead of the Budget. "After disappointing IIP numbers but easing of WPI inflation rate, investors are in a state of uncertainty regarding rate cuts in near future," said Nidhi Sarswat, Senior Research Analyst, Bonanza Portfolio Ltd. Meanwhile, global rating agency Moody's said pursuing policies to boost private investments and curbing inflation can help India trim Current Account Deficit (CAD), which hit a record high of 5.3 percent of GDP in September quarter. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) continued their buying spree during the week, pumping in a net Rs 2,567.30 crore, including the provisional figure of February 15, in Indian equity markets. Major losers during the week were Maruti Suzuki (7.28 percent), Jindal Steel (6.39 percent), Larsen (4.33 percent), Bajaj Auto (3.42 percent), Wipro (3.07 percent), Hero Motocorp (2.81 percent), Tata Steel (2.78 percent), SBI (2.32 percent), RIL (2.23 percent), Dr Reddy's Lab (2.08 percent), Sterlite Ind (1.98 percent), BHEL ((1.61 percent) and Bharti Airtel (1.51 percent). Gainers included Tata Motors, which firmed up by 6.48 percent followed by Sun Pharma (5.66 percent), HDFC Bank (3.88 percent), Coal India (3.10 percent), ONGC (2.66 percent), HUL (2.01 percent), M&M (1.64 percent), NTPC (1.36 percent) and TCS gained 1.26 percent. Among the major indices the BSE-Realty dropped by 5.39 percent followed by BSE-CG 3.98 percent, BSE-Power 2.79 percent, BSE-Metal 1.61 percent and the BSE-CD fell 1.04 percent. The BSE-Small and Mid-cap indices underperformed the Sensex by a wide margin, dropping by a whopping 3.73 percent and 3.18 percent, respectively. The total turnover at BSE and NSE fell to Rs 10,144.22 crore and Rs 53,329.49 crore, respectively from the last weekend level of Rs 11,279.44 crore and 57,529.99 crore.

New Samsung Refrigerator Has Soda Stream            Built In

We've seen some pretty snazzy high tech refrigerators lately, but a fridge that has a sparkling water dispenser? That takes the cake.
Samsung has announced that its new 36” four-door refrigerator has the industry’s first-ever automatic sparkling water dispenser. It's powered by Soda-stream  so you can get cold, bubbly water anytime of the day or night. The filtered sparkling water will come through the dispenser on the fridge door that already delivers water and ice.
The sparkling water dispenser uses a standard Soda-stream 60L CO2 cylinder which is concealed inside the left refrigerator door. That way it's easy to get to when you need to change it.
Kevin Dexter, senior vice president of home appliances sales and marketing for Samsung Electronics America, said, “By joining forces with Soda-stream  we are able to offer our consumers something never before seen on a refrigerator and bring a new experience to the kitchen.”

All this fizz comes with a price. The Samsung Refrigerator with sparkling water dispenser will be available in the U.S. in April 2013 for around $3899.

Is this the fridge of the future? What would you like to see on a high tech refrigerator in your house?

Facebook says it was hacked Facebook said it was the target of hackers but no user information was compromised during the attack. The social media giant said on Friday on its security blog that the company discovered in January that its system had been targeted in a sophisticated attack. The attack occurred when a handful of the company’s employees visited a developer’s compromised website, which led to malware being installed on their laptops. Facebook said it has found no evidence that user data was compromised. The company has fixed the infected machines, and an investigation is under way. Facebook also said it was not the only company targeted in the attacks but was one of the first to discover it. Source:
