Rhythm takes time, says Umesh Yadav

Rhythm takes time, says Umesh Yadav

Rhythm takes time, says Umesh Yadav
"Right now I am bowling well and feeling fine. I have already played two Ranji games. I am getting better and feeling better," Umesh Yadav said.
MUMBAI: Back in the side after being sidelined for some months due to poor form, Umesh Yadav said he will focus on getting his line and length right in next month's Test and ODI series against South Africa.

"Mentally I will be ready to bowl to a length, which could be three-quarter and around the off stump. I am focused on this aspect. Bowling wicket to wicket is very important in Test match cricket," he said. The 26-year-old Vidarbha bowler will be representing his side in the Ranji match against Mumbai starting on Thursday.

Asked about his interaction with the host skipper and senior India bowler Zaheer Khan at the nets, Yadav said, "We met after a long time He enquired about my fitness and advised me to concentrate on line and length,"

All about match practice

"For every fast bowler match practice is very important. There will be lot of bounce on the South African wickets. So, this match against Mumbai will be a good preparation on a probably helpful wicket here," he said. "The Ranji games are good practice games for me to improve fitness," he added.

The speedster had a back injury which ruled him out for the Australia series but he said he is feeling fine now.

"Right now I am bowling well and feeling fine. I have already played two Ranji games. I am getting better and feeling better," he said. He admitted that he is not bowling at the same level right now.

"I have started playing after the injury. It takes time to get into the rhythm, but I am feeling much better. The more I play I will be able to get into top rhythm," he said.

Virat, Rohit, Shikhar racing against each other!

Virat, Rohit, Shikhar racing against each other!

The top three ODI run-getters in 2013 are all Indians -- Virat KohliRohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. It's a fascinating race between the three as they try to finish the year right on top of the pile.

They have three more ODIs to go in 2013, away in South Africa next month.

The only batsman who looks most likely to threaten the three is Pakistan's Misbah-ul Haq who has six games still to play in the year -- one against SA and five against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi.

iphone-5c-635.jpg
Apple, in an attempt to boost sales of its iPhone 5c and iPhone 4S smartphones, is introducing a buyback scheme for the Indian market starting Saturday. The latest scheme will offer a minimum exchange price of Rs. 13,000 for an old smartphone.
The news comes from a Twitter user named Manish Khatri, who is a retailer in Mumbai, and NDTV Gadgets has been able to verify this scheme from another source. Khatri writes on Twitter, "Buyback on iPhone 5c and iPhone 4S 8GB LIVE FROM TOMORROW (get minimum 13000 on selected models) *condition apply."
Khatri has also posted an image that includes the list of smartphones that can be traded in for the iPhone 5c and iPhone 4S. Interestingly, the list includes some of flagship smartphones also.
Earlier on Friday, the research firm Gartner said in a report that the iPhone 5c was expensive for India and other emerging markets.
In India, Apple is selling the 16GB iPhone 5c at Rs. 41,900, and the 32GB variant at Rs. 53,500. The iPhone 4S 8GB, in newly revised pricing, is available at Rs. 31,500 including taxes.
Apple launched both the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s in India on November 1, starting at Rs. 41,900 and Rs. 53,500 for the 16GB models, respectively. Both the smartphones were globally unveiled in September this year.

Moto G dual-SIM smartphone to land in India with Android 4.4 KitKat: Report

Moto G dual-SIM smartphone to land in India with Android 4.4 KitKat: Report

moto-g-india-android-44-635.jpg
While it has already been confirmed that Motorola will be launching the dual-SIM version of the Moto G in India in early-January 2014, and that the smartphone would be receiving a 'guaranteed' Android 4.4 KitKat the same month, a new report says the model that will ship in India will come pre-loaded with Google's latest iteration of Android.
Omio News Blog in a report has revealed Motorola's plans for the rollout of Moto G with the latest Android iteration in various countries.
The report quotes Mark Randal, Senior Vice President, Supply Chain & Operations, Motorola who while replying about Android 4.4 KitKat rollout plans for Moto G said that the company will be shipping the smartphone with Android 4.4 KitKat after Christmas. Considering that in India, the Moto G will be launched next year, in early January, it is quite evident that the device will be running Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box.
Further, the report notes that the Motorola Moto G will release in two waves (as we confirmed during the press conference) , the first wave includes countries namely Brazil, France, Germany, Mexico and UK, while the second wave includes US, South East Asia and other countries. Randal also revealed that the Motorola Moto G will be launched with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in first wave countries, though they will also receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update by the end of January.
On Thursday, a tweet by Guy Kawasaki confirmed that the Motorola Moto G dual-SIM variant would be making it to the Indian market, as well as Brazil. While Motorola has already confirmed that the Moto G will be arriving in India, it has yet to reveal the precise plans for the type of retail availability.
The Motorola Moto G features a 4.5-inch HD 'edge-to-edge' display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels (translating to a pixel density of 329ppi) and boasts a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen. Powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with an Adreno 305 GPU, the Moto G features 1GB of RAM. On the optics front, the Moto G sports a 5-megapixel rear camera along with an LED flash and also includes a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear camera supports HD (720p) video recording.
The Motorola Moto G also features water-resistant nano-coating on the inside and outside. The Moto G packs a 2070mAh battery, which Motorola claims can deliver up to 30 percent more talktime than the Apple iPhone 5s.

Huawei Ascend P6S with octa-core chipset, Android 4.4 for Ascend P6 announced

huawei-logo-white-background-635.jpg
Huawei has revealed plans for an upcoming smartphone, the Ascend P6S, which is to be powered by an octa-core processor.
As per GizChina, Huawei's President, Xu Xin Quan was spotted saying on the Weibo blogging platform that the new Ascend P6S smartphone, successor to the Ascend P6, will be unveiled with company's updated version of the in-house K3V2 processor with octa-core processing prowess. Further, the report revealed that the upcoming eight-core chipset will feature integrated 3G and will be optimised for extended battery life.
Unfortunately, the company's President has not shed much light on the innards of the Ascend P6S except the chipset. No details about the release and availability of the smartphone were shared either.
Samsung and MediaTek have already launched octa-core processors, the Exynos 5 Octa chips andMT6592 chipset respectively.

In addition, the Chinese handset maker announced that the Ascend P6 will be getting the Android 4.4 KitKat treatment in January. As per Android SAS, Huawei will be skipping the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update and will directly release the v4.4 KitKat update with updated Emotion UI skin. With this, the Ascend P6 will become the first smartphone in Huawei's line up to get the Android 4.4 KitKat update. Sadly, the company has not revealed plans for updating its other Android-running smartphones.
Huawei unveiled the Ascend P6 back in June this year and natively runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with company's Emotion UI 1.6 OS layer on top. The smartphone is said to be the slimmest smartphone in the world by the company, and measures 6.2mm, while weighing 120 grams. It features a 4.7-inch LCD display that has a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. It's powered by the company's in-house chipset, the Huawei K3V2 quad-core processor, clocked at 1.5GHz and coupled with 2GB of RAM.
The Ascend P6 includes an 8-megapixel rear camera with a BSI sensor, capable of recording 1080p HD video, apart from a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Samsung has officially released the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Note II phablet. The update for the Galaxy Note II is being rolled out via OTA (over-the-air) and Samsung's desktop app, KIES. The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy Note II is about 700MB in size and is also available in India.
Sammobile in a report has claimed that the Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy Note II phablet is stable, if compared to the Galaxy S III's update. On Tuesday, Samsung reportedly suspended Android 4.3 update for Galaxy S III after users reported issues.
The new update changes core UI elements of the Galaxy Note II to match the Galaxy S4 and Note 3's interface. Further, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the phablet adds new features like Samsung KNOX and Samsung Wallet. The update also makes the Galaxy Note II phablet compatible with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
Sammobile has detailed the changelog for the Android 4.3 update for Galaxy Note II which includes TRIM support; better RAM management; a new Samsung keyboard; a new lockscreen with multiple widgets; a new feature to change clock size and set a personal message; new screen modes, much like flagship smartphone, Galaxy S4; Daydream, a feature introduced in Android 4.2 Jelly Bean; new Driving mode; new actionable notifications; move-to-SD-card feature; new camera mode (sound and shot); new additions in notification centre; completely revamped settings UI; new S Voice and some new Samsung apps like Calculator, Clock, Contacts, Gallery, and Music.
In addition, Sammobile has claimed that the Galaxy Note II LTE variant is also receiving the Android 4.3 update. Earlier on Monday, the Samsung Galaxy Note II's test Android 4.3 firmware for India was leaked.

Google Wallet prepaid debit card announced; to work at ATMs, MasterCard outlets

Google Wallet prepaid debit card announced; to work at ATMs, MasterCard outlets

google-wallet-screenshot-635.jpg
Google Inc will offer a prepaid debit card that will allow consumers to purchase goods at stores and to withdraw cash from ATM machines, the Internet company said on Wednesday.
The card, which is only available in the United States, lets consumers access the funds stored in their Google Wallet accounts. Google Wallet is a smartphone app and online payment service that lets consumers buy goods and transfer money to each other.
The new Wallet card will be accepted at "millions of locations" that accept MasterCard and at ATM machines, Google said in a post on its official blog on Wednesday. Google said the card is free and that the company will not charge cardholders any monthly or annual fees.
The card could help advance Google's efforts to play a bigger role in commerce and provide the company with valuable information about consumer shopping habits, though it appears to be less ambitious than the full-fledged credit card once rumored to be in the works.
Plans for a Google consumer credit card were shelved when the head of Google's Wallet and payments group, Osama Bedier, left the company in May, according to a report at the time in the technology blog AllThingsD.
Google, the world's No. 1 Internet search engine, in 2011 began offering a special AdWords Business credit card that its advertising customers could use to buy ads on its website.
A Google spokeswoman confirmed that data about transactions made with the new Wallet card - including a description of goods purchased, the amount of the transaction and the name and address of the seller - would be added to the internal profiles that Google maintains for users of its services, which can be used to target ads.
Consumers add money to the new Wallet Card by linking it to a bank account or when another person transfers money to their Wallet account, according to Google. The card can be ordered online on Wednesday, and typically takes 10 to 12 days to arrive, a Google spokeswoman said.

Winamp and associated services to shut down on December 20

Winamp and associated services to shut down on December 20

winamp-shutdown.jpg
One of the most popular media players of all time, Winamp, will cease to be available come December 20, 2013.

AOL has announced that it is shutting down Winamp.com and its associated web services and that the Winamp media player will also no longer be available for download.

"Winamp.com and associated web services will no longer be available past December 20, 2013. Additionally, Winamp Media players will no longer be available for download. Please download the latest version before that date. See release notes for latest improvements to this last release. Thanks for supporting the Winamp community for over 15 years," said the note on the Winamp.com website.

winamp-screenie.jpgThe Winamp media player was at the peak of its popularity in the late nineties. One of the highlights of the player was the capability to skin its user interface and add plug-ins to extend its functionality.

The player supports all popular file formats including Ogg Vorbis. Winamp also supports gapless playback for MP3 and AAC format files. It was also among the first players to offer streaming music through support for SHOUTCast, Nullsoft's cross-platform software to stream media.

The first iteration of Winamp was developed by Justin Frankel and Dmitry Boldyrev in 1997 as freeware. Frankel named his software company, Nullsoft, and continued development on the player. It was later turned into shareware with new features and functionality added to the player.

Nullsoft was acquired by AOL in June 1999, for $80 million in stock and since then is a subsidiary of the media giant.

The player was developed essentially for Windows, but betas for Android and Mac OS X and an alpha for Linux were also released, though only the Windows version has been updated regularly. The last version (Winamp 5.66) was released on 20 November 2013, the day the shutdown was announced.

For most people, who used PCs in the 90s the  "Winamp, it really whips the llama's ass," mp3 file that played on first launch, was synonymous with Winamp, or setting up a PC for the first time. You can download it to relive the era, by visiting Winamp.com.

Microsoft takes Scroogled campaign to the next level with anti-Google merchandise

Microsoft takes Scroogled campaign to the next level with anti-Google merchandise

scroogled-merchandise-store.jpg
Microsoft continues its attack against Google by taking its Scroogled campaign beyond the online realm, offering merchandise such as mugs, caps, T-shirts and hoodies, with an anti-Google message, on its online store.

The products feature the Scroogled logo in Google colours or a Chrome logo with hate messages for Google. A mug, for instance, bears the message, 'Keep calm while we steal your data.'

A T-shirt that features over 20 synonyms including 'Gulled, Humbugged, Buffaloed, Wire-tapped, Extorted, Sold out, Chicaned, Fleeced, Scammed, Conned, Surveilled, Double-dealt, Ensnared, Suckered, Sandbagged, Gossiped, Scandalmongered, Flimflammed, Skullduggered, Bamboozled, Hornswoggled, Beguiled, Cheated, Fooled, Double-crossed, Defrauded, Hoodwinked, Swindled, and Duped,' is also available on the Microsoft store.

Another T-shirt features the Google spider with a 'Step into our web' message. Some T-shirts look like a different take on Google's own merchandise.

While Microsoft has attacked Google a number of times, this attempt appears to be a very direct one. Sure, they'd appeal to Microsoft fans and Google haters alike, but not everyone would find it in good taste.

A few months back, Microsoft created a new page on its Scroogled.com website explaining how Google was spamming users by inserting ads in their inboxes instead of protecting them from spam. Microsoft had put a video and slideshow detailing how Google serves spam that looks like regular emails based on the user's other emails. Microsoft had alleged that Google violated users' privacy by reading every single word of every single email sent to and from their Gmail accounts.

Microsoft started the Scroogled campaign in April through which it attacked Google with a series of ad campaigns. The ads, which have appeared online, on television and in print, depict Google as a duplicitous company more interested in increasing profits and power than protecting people's privacy and providing unbiased search results.

Nokia to hand over its Finland headquarters to Microsoft as part of deal

Nokia to hand over its Finland headquarters to Microsoft as part of deal

nokia-microsoft-lumia-phone-reuters-635.jpg
Finnish telecom equipment maker Nokia said on Thursday it would hand over its headquarters outside Helsinki to US software giant Microsoft, which has acquired the group's mobile business.
The building is located in Espoo, a suburb of the capital.

According to Nokia, most of the staff in the building work for the mobile division, which explains why it will house the Microsoft offices after the transaction is completed.
The employees who remain at Nokia, now focused on the telecom business, will be transferred to other buildings in Espoo.
Nokia's headquarters, a symbol of Finnish economic success in the 1990s and 2000s, will now also be a reminder of the fall of what was once the world's biggest mobile phone maker.
Dubbed the "Nokia House", the building was built by the Baltic Sea in the 1990s, at a time when the booming mobile phone market seemed to grant the company a promising future.
In December last year, loss-making Nokia sold it to a real estate company, but agreed to lease it back on a long-term basis.

On Tuesday, Nokia's shareholders approved the sale of the mobile phone business to Microsoft for 5.44 billion euro ($7.30 billion), hoping that the deal will get the company back on the profit track.

Nexus 4 reportedly starts receiving Android 4.4 KitKat update in India

Nexus 4 reportedly starts receiving Android 4.4 KitKat update in India

nexus-4-android4.4-notifications-635.jpg
Google may not have announced the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Nexus 4 but a Twitter user in India claims that his smartphone is now receiving the update via OTA (over-the-air).
Manan Chawla has posted an image that shows the 'Android 4.4 System Update' notification on his Nexus 4. Chawla's tweet reads, "This time it happened fast. Android 4.4 KitKat is on my #nexus4 #India."
The purported Android 4.4 system notification reveals that the update is about 239MB in size. The update notification also includes some new features namely Hangouts app, Caller ID by Google, new Print feature.
As of now, there is no official word from the search engine giant on the Android 4.4 rollout for the Nexus 4. But the latest tweet suggests that Google might be rolling out the update in phases.
The Android 4.4 KitKat iteration brings some new features such as a new translucent menu bar, which is located at the bottom of the screen; new dialler and caller ID; unified Hangouts messaging app; smarter Google Now integration; step counter and detector, support for two new composite sensors, and support for screen recording.
Earlier this month, Google officially announced the rollout of Android 4.4 KitKat for its Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets (Wi-Fi only models), available OTA. The search engine giant confirmed the news via Android's Twitter and Google Plus accounts.
However, Google did not specify an exact date for the update for mobile data model of Nexus 7 tablets. In addition, Google also left out of the update the Nexus 4 smartphone, saying it would be 'coming soon'.
